METALS LAB In our metals lab, we are able to continuously test our iron to assure our customers that we are meeting their specifications. This is not strictly limited to customer requests for certifications only, but an ongoing process to meet and exceed standards of quality excellence. We also will provide certifications for all ASTM and customer specification as well as tracability. Our testing equipment includes: Spectro 13 element spectrograph Satec tensile machine Unitron optical microscope - 100, 200, 400 & 800x (includes poloroid attachment for microphotographs) 2% nital etch King brinell hardness tester - 3,000 Kg 10mm ball Krautkrammer ultrasonic thickness tester Sonic 136 ultrasonic flaw detection unit Dye penetrant - surface discontinuity and flaw tester QUALITY ASSURANCE - Our quality assurance department is governed by our KFI Assurance Manual, which provides a guideline for all aspects of our foundry processes. We have developed a high response corrective action red tag program, and are more than willing to provide on-site visitations for quality questions and problems. Kulp also uses a digital camera for pictures of patterns or castings to e-mail to customers as part of this program.
